MitoAction Client Profile

Problem: MitoAction - the Mitochondrial Disease Action Committee - had a static html website that was costly and time consuming to update.  In order to create a vibrant, dynamic website that inspired communication and community, they needed a content management system that would allow all aspects of the website to be controlled under one system, and by the MitoAction team, without having to go to a developer for help with updates and changes.

Accession Media Solution: Our answer was Drupal. Drupal is an open source website content management system that allows us to integrate several site features under one, unified user registration and content management system.  The Drupal content management system allows MitoAction to have one tool for all aspects of the site. Blogs, forums, podcasts, a registration-protected clinitians guide, and integration with their donation management system, called Convio, all under one roof. We also helped MitoAction with Search Engine Marketing by making use of the Drupal platform to implement customized title and meta tags on each page of the site, in addition to the customized, keyword-rich site URLs.  We also enhanced the site's content by configuring blogs, forums, podcasts, and a "registered users only" content area to encourage membership.

Results: All aspects of the site are unified, not only giving the site a clean look, but also keeping people logged in throughout the duration of their visit to make their interaction with the organization easier.  In September 2008, MitoAction hosted their largest and most successful fundraising event to date, thanks largely to the regular communication and coordination enabled through their Drupal-based website.
