Problem: ESPN Radio's production staff was dealing with a tough situation. Every time a file needed to be sent among producers, clients, and salespeople, a large email attachment would need to be sent. This overloaded email servers, often didn't get sent correctly, and generally made communication less than optimal. What they needed was a place where all project stakeholders could come together and manage projects and their associated production files. These files include downloading high resolution graphics and large audio and video files, all in different formats.
Accession Media Solution: ESPN Radio had a tight timeline, so we had to work fast. We developed a custom open source online tool that allowed sales people to upload files and track their progress to see when a file has been open and a project initiated as a result. It also allows producers to download the necessary files, update project status, and archive completed work so old files and data information can be used again later for future work.
Result: Not only did this program save the time of sales by eliminating the need to call for updates on production project progress, it also saved money. By no longer having to email files with the large attachments, load and space on email servers was reduced and further investment in those systems wasn't necessary. The program increased efficiency for ESPN Radio and minimized confusion.
